PYR-A-PAM PLUS

As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.

BRAND NAME: PYR-A-PAM PLUS®

HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED

Pyr-a-Pam Plus® is a combination of pyrantel pamoate and oxantel pamoate, which are both parasiticides.  It is used to kill 2 types of roundworms (ascarids), 2 types of hookworms, and 1 type of whipworm in dogs.  This medication only kills these parasites if they are in the intestinal tract.

SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects of Pyr-a-Pam Plus® are very rare but may include vomiting, and in excessive overdose, increased respiratory rate (breathe faster) or panting, fever, staggering, and loss of balance.

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS

Observe for adverse reaction if used with organophosphates (flea and tick products) or diethylcarbamazine (once a day heartworm preventative).

CONCERNS AND CAUTIONS

Pyr-a Pam Plus® is to be used with caution in debilitated pets, and in pets that are pregnant or nursing.

It is not for use in puppies under 6 weeks of age.

This medication may be given with or without food.

Elimination of parasites must also include sanitation and prevention measures to ensure your pet does not become reinfected.

Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
