OTOMAX

As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.

 

BRAND NAME:  OTOMAX®

HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED

Otomax® is a topical combination product consisting of gentamycin (an antibiotic), betamethasone valerate (an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid which also reduces itching and irritation), and clotrimazole (an antifungal).  It is commonly used to treat certain ear and skin infections. 

SIDE EFFECTS

Rarely one may see redness, irritation, or swelling of the ear from the medication. Otomax® has been known to occasionally cause temporary deafness when used in the ear.

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS

Otomax® is not to be used with other medications known to cause ear/hearing damage.

CONCERNS AND CAUTIONS

Otomax® is not to be used in pets hypersensitive (allergic) to the individual products.

Before this product is used in the ear, the veterinarian will ensure that the ear drum is intact.

Do not allow Otomax® to come in contact with your pet's eyes. Flush well with water if it does and contact your pet’s veterinarian promptly.

Use for the prescribed length of time, not more or less.  Inform your pet’s veterinarian if significant improvement is not seen in 72 hours.

Store at room temperature.

Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
