NITROSCANATE

As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.

 

BRAND NAME: LOPATOL®

HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED

Nitroscanate is a broad-spectrum parasiticide.  It is used to kill 2 types of roundworms (ascarids), 2 types of hookworms, and 2 types of tapeworms in dogs.  This medication only kills these parasites if they are in the intestinal tract.

SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects of nitroscanate are very rare but may include vomiting, and in excessive overdose, sedation, difficulty breathing, and inappetence.

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS

There are no drug interactions documented for nitroscanate.

CONCERNS AND CAUTIONS

Nitroscanate is to be used with caution in debilitated pets.

This medication should not be administered concomitantly with other dewormers.

Nitroscanate tablets are film coated and should not be broken or divided.

Nitroscanate is safe for use in puppies older than two weeks of age, and is considered safe for use during pregnancy and lactation.

This medication may be given with or without food.

Elimination of parasites must also include sanitation and prevention measures to ensure your pet does not become reinfected.
