HEXAMITE

(For veterinary information only)

As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.

BRAND NAME:  HEXAMITE®

HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED

Hexamite® is a combination of hexamethyl tetracosane, D-trans-allethrin and piperonyl butoxide, which are all parasiticides.  Hexamite® is used in the treatment of ear mites in cats and dogs.   It will kill the ear mites, but will not be effective in removing the debris created by the ear mites, which is very irritating to the animal.  Hexamite® is therefore most effective in combination with an ear flush.

SIDE EFFECTS

Occasionally, inflammation and irritation of the ear that was not present prior to starting the medication may develop.  If it is persistent or particularly uncomfortable for your pet, notify the veterinarian who may prescribe an alternate medication.

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS

There are no known drug interactions with Hexamite®.
