As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.
BRAND NAME: FUCIDERM GEL®
HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED
Fuciderm Gel® is a combination of fusidic acid (an antibiotic) and betamethasone valerate (a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties). This medication is used for the topical treatment of certain skin conditions in the dog such as acute moist dermatitis (“hot spots”) and skin fold dermatitis.
SIDE EFFECTS
Fuciderm Gel® may cause thinning of the skin and capillary fragility, and temporary suppression of the adrenal gland, with systemic manifestations. Contact your pet’s veterinarian for more details.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS
This medication has not been studied for its interactions with other drugs.
CONCERNS AND CAUTIONS
This medication is not to be used in pregnant or lactating pets, in pets with Cushing’s disease, in the presence of fungal infections, or in certain specific skin conditions.
This medication should not be used for more than 7 days, except upon the prescription of your pet’s veterinarian.
Fuciderm Gel® should not be used in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to any of its constituents.
You should wash your hands after applying this medication to your pet.
If there is no response within 3 days, or if the condition deteriorates, notify your pet’s veterinarian.
The chance of side effects can be reduced by preventing your pet from licking the gel off and ingesting it, applying the medication only to the affected area and not around, ad following closely the veterinarian’s instructions for administration of the medication.
