As with all medications, it is extremely important that this medication be used ONLY for the pet for which it is prescribed.

 

BRAND NAME: DRONTAL®

HOW THIS MEDICATION IS USED

Drontal® is a broad-spectrum parasiticide, and is a combination of praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate. It is used to kill 1 type of large roundworm, 1 type of hookworm, and 2 types of tapeworms in kittens and cats.     This medication only kills these parasites if they are in the intestinal tract.

SIDE EFFECTS

Drontal® may occasionally cause vomition, salivation, temporary loss of appetite, and/or transient loose stools.  

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS

Observe for adverse reaction if used with organophosphates (flea and tick products) or diethylcarbamazine (once a day heartworm preventative).

CONCERNS AND CAUTIONS

Drontal® may be given with or without food.

 

It is not to be used in cats under 1 month of age or weighing less than 1 kg (2.2lb).

 

This medication is not to be administered to weak or debilitated animals.

 

Drontal® is considered to be safe for use in pregnancy and lactation.

 

Elimination of parasites must also include sanitation and prevention measures to ensure your pet does not become reinfected.

 

Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
